By Honey Morris of Handmade by H-Monster I'M ALWAYS CHASING THE EXHILARATION OF SQUISHING NEW YARN! The only thing more exciting than new yarn is … *long pause* … who am I kidding, there’s nothing more exciting than new yarn! As a self-confessed yarn addict I’m always chasing the exhilaration of squishing new yarn! I literally love everything about new yarn, I love the brand new bouquet it emits as I rush to unwrap it, I love gazing adoringly at the colours as I plan exciting new projects and, most of all, I love the squishiness! Ah, the squishiness! Recently, I’ve been crocheting Easter bunny treat bags using Scheepjes newest addition to their line of cotton yarns, Cahlista, which is available in 109 shades of beautiful. I love working with cotton yarn, with Scheepjes Catona being my “go-to” yarn for my amigurumi creations, however, I’m always keen to try something new and I’m super excited to hook some creations with this gorgeous Cahlista yarn. Excitingly, Cahlista is available in the same colour palette as Catona, . Scheepjes Cahlista is 100% un-mercerized cotton aran 10 ply weight yarn with an optimised twist to reduce splitting, it’s available in 50g skeins with a recommended hook size of 4.5mm to 5.0mm. Scheepjes Cahlista is a little on the stiff side so, personally, I wouldn’t use it to crochet clothing but, it’s absolutely perfect for bags, blankets and anything home décor. I also think it would be great for larger amigurumi creations. So, what are you waiting for, SQUISH THE YARN! H-Monster x

By Honey Morris of Handmade by H-Monster I'M HOPING I'M NOT ON SANTA'S NAUGHTY LIST AND THAT HE'LL STUFF MY CHRISTMAS STOCKING WITH YARN! I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I know it sounds cliche but I love the spirit of Christmas. I love how it brings family and friends together. Whilst I grew up in the UK I've lived in Western Australia for the past 10 plus years. Christmas in WA is HOT! I struggled to feel Christmassy at Christmas for the first few years because I actually missed the cold weather that I associated with it! I swapped snow for sand and I've learned to love Christmas in the sunshine. I have a little over 2 weeks off of work this Christmas and I'm going to use that time very wisely! I'll spend my morning's at the beach and my afternoon's crocheting! I'm hoping I'm not on Santa's naughty list and that he'll stuff my Christmas stocking with yarn! I hope you'll love this collection of free Christmas crochet patterns. I've put a lot of effort into sourcing really good quality free patterns from some of my favourite crochet bloggers. H-Monster x By Honey Morris of Handmade by H-Monster I absolutely love how crochet connects me to my nan. I’ve been crocheting for around 3.5 years but, I think it was always inevitable that I would get hooked (yes, that was a totally intentional pun)! In the past, and hubs often cracks jokes about this, my hobbies haven’t lasted long but that’s not been the case with crochet. As a child I used to love watching my nan knit, it fascinated me and even now, I still feel excited when I tell people about a jumper she knitted me, with a beautiful pony on the front. I absolutely loved it, and I really wish I had kept it, but, sadly it went to jumper heaven! My beautiful nan is in her 80's now and, sadly, not in the best of health but I think it makes her happy to know that I've inherited her love of all things yarn. So, here’s the 5 things I love most about crochet: |
